In 1962 Ken’s son, Barry, joined the business adding his experience in selling new capital equipment. Goodson now began selling new adding machines, calculators, and cash registers. The task of expanding the Goodson sales arm was assigned to Barry.
In the mid 1960’s the company experienced considerable growth when Australia changed to decimal currency and all machines had to be converted or replaced. The Company enjoyed sustained growth and in 1969 Goodson commenced importing its own product and developing its own agencies.
In 1970 Goodson became the Australian master distributor for Citizen Business Machines, a position it holds to the present day. In 1972 Goodson Imports was formed and became the importation and distribution arm of the business.
In the mid 1990’s Goodson was appointed the Australian agent for Samsung, including cash registers. This led to importing Bixolon and Sam4s. Goodson also commenced manufacturing and importing their own cash drawers which are amongst the highest selling in Australia.
The Company has seen many changes over the last sixty years, with the introduction of a large number of new and diversified products and changes in the structure and management.
Barry Sale still remains active as the Company Chairman. Max Schuddeboom the CEO and Susan Pace the Sales Director, handle the day to day running of the company. Susan Pace and Kylie Raymond are the third generation of the Sale family that are working actively within the company.
Goodson Imports has sales offices and warehouses in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and New Zealand and currently has over fifty staff members.
Goodson now represents and supports products for many Major Brands. Quite a few of which we hold exclusively, Bixolon, Citizen, Opticon, Posiflex and Sam4S and Master Distributor for NCR, Datalogic and Honeywell to name a few. We are very thankful for the loyalty, support and longevity our suppliers have shown us over the years.
For sixty years Goodson has sustained a position as leader in the Retail Technology Industry and maintains the highest level of customer service and technical support – values for which Goodson is renowned.
Goodson’s are growing at an outstanding rate. Moving into larger premises, expanding coverage and increasing market verticals. Goodson has sustained being the major POS hardware supplier in Australia and New Zealand.
As in any business, maintaining good relationships with customers and vendors is critical, especially when the relationships have stood the test of time. Goodson would never have been able to achieve this milestone without the support of our customers and loyal staff who are all an integral part of the Goodson Success Story.
