Now in its 15th year as one of the nation’s most important annual design festivals, Sydney Design brings together the best in design from across Sydney and beyond. The 16 day program features a broad range of activities from events, talks, tours, seminars, exhibitions and installations. This years’ theme, Is Old New Again? looks at how designers are mining tradition and marrying cutting edge technology with an artisanal and human sensibility. The theme will explore the collision between design, tradition, innovation, heritage and experimentation.
A featured event of this years’ festival is the Kids Design Weekend which will run over 30th-31st July.
Sydney Design attracts a significant audience, with 26,369 direct visitors to the Museum during Sydney Design 2010. A further 50,000+ visitors enjoyed a range of events and activities at over 50 venues around the city. Visitors include design professionals, students, general public and visitors from interstate and overseas.
