Stationery retailers renew focus on kids

Gift stationery wholesalers will again convene this August at Australia’s largest gift and homewares trade event, Reed Gift Fairs Melbourne, looking to stock their shelves for the remainder of the year.

Exhibition Director Omer Soker says: “We’ve noticed an emerging trend in the large range of creative and high quality children’s stationery exhibited at out fairs. It’s refreshing to see that Australian companies are starting to move away from the pure commercialisation of children’s products, paying more attention to creative design and innovation. These products pay attention to the needs of children and the current market to cater to both children and their parents.”

Mr Soker says there is a growing market for stationery that reflects the real Australian childhood rather than stylised or heavily merchandised American or European designs.

Party invitations by Kiddie Up

Kiddie Up stationery designs are inspired by an Australian childhood. The colourful and fun party invitation designs are filled with characters and objects for children to discover and identify with.

Kiddie Up products are designed in Australia, and feature a growing range of functional and quality products that are perfect for young children.

The Kiddie Up range includes gift cards and tags, magnets, wall stickers and children’s party invitations, as well as mounted illustrations and wall art, nursery décor and meal sets.

Justin Tickner, Managing Director of Kiddie Up, says the current market for children’s products is oversaturated with branded merchandise. “We started this brand because we felt that some of the merchandised products in the marketplace were starting to forget about the importance of creative and smart design.  Our products are educational and have a story to tell. They inspire, engage and educate young minds far better than competing merchandised products.”

Mr Tickner says exhibiting at Reed Gift Fairs Melbourne provides the opportunity for Kiddie Up products to impress national, regional and local retailers.

The Sticker Family by My Family

The Sticker Family includes a huge range of family sticker characters of all shapes and sizes to allow customers to create their very own sticker family.  The stickers range from golf-playing dads to pregnant mums and superhero kids and even include Frisbee-chasing dogs, scaredy cats, horses and guinea pigs.  My Family stickers can be put on a car's back windscreen or side windows, letterbox or any other smooth surface.
Monica Liebenow, Co-owner and Designer of The Sticker Family, says “We created the family sticker characters to reflect the modern family, whatever that may mean. Australia is a multicultural nation with many different types of family units yet most of the products currently available in the market still convey only the traditional nuclear family.
“Children can find it difficult to deal with change and being different, our range allows kids to proudly display the most diverse families in a fun and accessible medium.”
